​

+ QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program: The QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program gives outstanding low-income high school juniors an early advantage in college admissions. College Prep Scholars are uniquely prepared to gain admission and full scholarships to top-tier colleges through QuestBridge. The majority are also selected as Finalists for the National College Match. Being selected as a College Prep Scholar is a notable distinction that celebrates your achievements and gives you an early start in applying to college. Learn more and apply here. + Carnegie Mellon Summer Academy for Math + Science: Open to rising juniors and seniors who show strong academic potential, as well as an interest in math or science. The curriculum for students will include non-credit courses designed and taught by members of the Carnegie Mellon faculty, outstanding teachers and graduate students carefully chosen because of their commitment to teaching and their ability to relate to 11th and 12th grade students. Upperclass students will serve as classroom assistants, tutors and mentors to program participants. Courses will include engineering and science projects, as well as SAT/college preparation and advanced math courses. The courses, housing, and meals are FREE, but students will need to pay for their books, supplies, and transportation. See this link for more details. Program Duration: July 1st - August 11th. + Carnegie Mellon Summer Programs for Access & Inclusion: Three or six week academic programs created to give students a taste of Carnegie Mellon. Rising high school Juniors or Seniors can enroll in the following options: art/design, architecture, drama, and music. NO tuition, housing, or dining fees if you are selected for this program. Click here for more information. Students will need to submit an application, transcript, most recent PSAT or SAT scores, two recommendation letters, two essays, and a resume for consideration. + Stanford University Artificial Intelligence Laboratory Outreach Summer Program: AI will change the world. Who will change AI? The Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory’s Outreach Summer Program intends to increase diversity in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Current 9th grade girls are encouraged to apply. Students will learn about Artificial Intelligence through a combination of lectures, hands-on research projects, field trips, and mentoring activities during this three-week residential program. Program Duration: June 25–July 13, 2018. Apply By: Selected on a first come, first served basis.  

 

+ Centenary Summer Scholars: One week programs allow 8th-12th grade students to pick a “major” and an elective to explore areas of interest to them. Each course is designed to offer hands-on and project-based learning experiences with enthusiastic, talented teachers in small class sizes. Off-campus excursions and field trips, such as to NYC are included. “Majors” offered are: Veterinary Science (separated large and small animals), Forensic Science, Writer’s Workshop, Studio Arts, Fashion Design, Computer Game Design, Television Production, and Sustainability/Environmental Science. Potential elective courses are: Equestrian Center, Architecture and Design, Astronomy, Screenwriting, Public Speaking, SpyCraft, and Digital Photography and Editing. + Cornell Summer College Program: 3 or 6 week programs available for current sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Take courses in the following areas: Architecture & Art, Business, College Success, Debate, Design & Fashion, Engineering, Hotel Management, Law & Government, Leadership, Medicine, Psychology, Research & Science, Social Change, Sustainability, and Veterinary Medicine. Application required. Details here. Program Duration: Between June 23rd - August 7th, 2018 (depending on your program of choice) Application opens mid-January. + Dartmouth Bound Summer Program: The Dartmouth Bound STEM Program provides participants with insight into what life is like at Dartmouth, as well as information about the admissions and financial aid process. Program highlights include seminars, tours, and financial aid workshops. All students accepted into the program have their transportation costs covered. + Drexel Summer Institutes: Drexel's summer academic programs are open to highly motivated high school students who wish to explore what a university-level program is all about. Workshops are led by Drexel faculty and utilize Drexel's labs, facilities, and the city of Philadelphia's many resources.

+ Duke University’s Summer College for High School Students: Four week, credit-bearing program at Duke University in Durham, NC. Immerse yourself in an international college experience by enrolling in this elite program designed to provide the academic and residential environment conducive for collegiate success.  Take three different classes, participate in research, and engage in residential activities! Build your skills by taking introductory courses (ex: Public Policy, History, Literature), as well as personal enrichment classes (ex: Chinese or Fine Arts). + Exploring Careers Outdoors Camp: This is a FREE week-long camp for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Exploring Careers Outdoors, is a week-long residential camp for high school students focusing on outdoor careers in recreation, conservation and natural resources. Professional staff from DCNR including state parks, geology and forestry, act as counselors and educators, exposing students to a variety of careers and outdoor recreation activities while interacting with students on a daily basis. The program is conducted at the Kirby House near Wilkes-Barre, PA.Learn more by checking out the website. See here for the application.  Program Duration: July 8th – 14th, 2018. + Furman Summer Scholars: As a Furman Scholar, you get to stay on Furman University’s (South Carolina) campus for a week, taking classes and working with professors both inside and outside the classroom. This way, you get to learn the way Furman students do. Students are eligible for scholarships at least $7,500 per year ($30,000 total) to attend Furman University as an undergraduate student. Rising juniors and seniors are invited to apply. Click here for more information. Cost to attend: One week session= $1,200. Two week session= $2,200. You may be eligible for a $200 discount. + Georgetown Summer College Courses: With access to more than 80 courses that span across multiple disciplines, you will have the opportunity to live on campus and attend class with Georgetown undergraduate students in two five-week sessions. Or take courses in both sessions and earn up to 12 college credits before you graduate high school. This is your chance to experience what life at Georgetown feels like both inside and outside of the classroom.  See here for program details. This program is open to current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Program Duration: Session One: June 3rd - July 6th. Session Two: July 8th - Aug 10th. + Georgetown Summer Institutes: The Institutes at Georgetown University offer high school students an eight-day immersion into one of six subject areas. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore what interests you in an accelerated, hands-on environment while experiencing campus life and the excitement of Washington, DC. Programs include: Medicine, Law, Forensic Science, Politics, Business & Management, and Arts & Humanities. This program is non-credit bearing, but provides students a chance to explore their interests deeper. See here for more details and the application. Program Duration: Subjects vary, but will be between June 10th - Aug 11th. Apply By: Acceptance is first come, first served.

 

+ Health Careers Camp: Hosted by Pennsylvania College of Technology and

Susquehanna Health, this two-day workshop provides students with different hands

on learning activities for careers such as Dental Hygiene, Health Information

Technology, Medical Imaging, Nursing, Physician Assistant, and more. Available to

+ High School Summer Institutes (Washington University in St. Louis): Open to current high school students from across the country and around the world. The Summer Institutes offer you the ability to live on campus and meet new people, enjoy a variety of social opportunities, and prepare yourself for college success. The Summer Institutes allow you to explore careers and majors in medicine, writing, engineering (one of WUSTL’s best undergraduate programs), leadership, and more. Partial scholarships are available to students with financial need. Visit the website for more info. Program Duration: Varies by program. Apply By: April 1, 2018 (spots fill quickly).

 

+ High School Summer Scholars (Washington University in St. Louis): Open to students who have completed their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school, this program allows students to get a taste of college life through Washington University through a five week or eight week summer experience. Different program options allow you to design a summer experience that meets your needs and interests. The Residential option allows you to live on campus and take two college courses for credit, and the Scholar-Athlete option allows you to take one college course for credit and a non-credit Smart Fitness course. During the program, students have access to weekly academic support groups, college success seminars, and explore the cultural opportunities of the city. + Indiana University of PA Summer Honors Program: Rising high school juniors and seniors are invited to spend 2 weeks on IUP’s campus to see what college life is all about. Students will take interdisciplinary honors courses in the morning, followed by an afternoon course on the topic of your choosing. This program creates a safe environment for you to explore college life. See here for further information. Program Duration: July 9th – 22nd. Apply By: May 1st.

 

+ Intermediate CyberStem Camp at UMD: The Intermediate CyberSTEM camp is a one-week commuter summer program at the University of Maryland, College Park for high school (incoming 9th and 10th grade) girls who are interested in the growing field of cybersecurity. This 4 day experience provides hands-on activities focused on STEM and cybersecurity topics such as programming, digital forensics, system vulnerabilities, cyberethics, cybersaftey and cybersecurity, as well as cryptography. + Johns Hopkins University CTY (Center for Talented Youth): Three week academic and social camp at various sites both in the U.S. and abroad for 7-12th grade students. Try out an academic subject field that you want to learn more about before going to college! See website for more information: here. + Johns Hopkins University Summer Discovery: 2-5 weeks of academic and social activities. Summer Pre-College Programs at Johns Hopkins help you prepare for your transition from high school to college. Our pre-college programs combine academics, athletics, and activities to give high school students a great introduction to college life. Classes are held in engineering, writing, mathematics, and the arts & Sciences. See here for program information. Program Duration: Multiple sessions ranging from May 29th to August 3rd. +Lebanon Valley College Health and Biomedical Sciences Summer Camp: Open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors who want a window into the scientific basis of human health. Through lectures and hands-on laboratory investigations in state-of-the-art laboratories, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology, biochemistry and medical ethics. Students will learn how laboratory science can be translated into improved human health, and they will engage in investigative experiences that will allow them to apply their laboratory skills to real life problems. In addition, students will interact with practicing professionals in fields such as medicine, physical therapy, toxicology, genetic counseling and biomedical laboratory research. + Pennsylvania Bucktails Field School: Spend an intensive week in the field learning about white tailed deer and wildlife conservation. Students will go to Huntingdon County to learn about habitat assessment, research, nature photography, and more. Application and information details available on this website. Program Duration: June 13th – 17th. Apply By: March 15th, 2017.

 

+ Pennsylvania Brookies Field School: Spend an intensive week in the field learning about brook trout, coldwater fisheries, and conservations. Students will go to Clinton County to learn about habitat assessment, research, nature photography, and more. Application and information available on this website. Program Duration: June 18th - 22nd. Apply By: March 15th, 2017.

 

+ Pennsylvania Drummers Field School: Spend a week in the field learning hands-on about Ruffed Grouse biology, habitat management, research and monitoring techniques, role of sportsmen in PA, nature photography & journaling, and comprehensive leadership training. + Penn Biomedical Research Academy: The goal of this program is to introduce students to the experimental basis of biology, including relevance to disease.  The focus of the program will be on how we know what we know. Daily morning lectures and discussions on the cellular, molecular and genetic aspects of biology will be followed on some days by guest lectures from scientists and clinicians from Penn’s Department of Biology and from the Penn Medical School. + Penn Engineering Summer Academy in Applied Science & Technology: 3-week program for rising 10th-12th graders from the University of Pennsylvania. Earn college credit in: Biotechnology, computer graphics, computer science, nanotechnology, robotics, or engineering complex networks. Students must have a minimum “B” average with preference for strong performance in math and science. For more information, see here. Program Duration: July 8 - 28, 2018. Apply By: February 26th (priority application) or April 6th (general deadline).

 

+  Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Science: A highly selective summer program taking place at Carnegie Mellon. “All commonwealth public, private, charter high schools and Career Technical Academies are invited to recommend current juniors to attend the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.” This “month long intensive science experience immerses students in classes and research. Students will hone their content knowledge along with enhancing their critical thinking, communication, problem solving, and collaboration skills. Students will be paired with a research mentor along with partnering with their peers on an intensive research experience.” Follow this link to learn more. + Pennsylvania School for Excellence in the Agricultural Sciences: Open to juniors from public high schools in Pennsylvania, the 2018 Pennsylvania  School for Excellence in the Agricultural Sciences will be a four-week summer residential program held on University Park campus for academically talented and gifted high school students (rising seniors) from throughout Pennsylvania. This program is FREE to participants and is sponsored by Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences. Click here for the application. + Penn Medical School Summer Program: A four week, intensive program at the University of Pennsylvania. This is one of the top medical school programs for high school students and features lectures, demonstrations, discussions, hands-on sessions, and field excursions designed to expose students to the fascinating world of modern medicine. Students experience several different medical careers and get an in depth perspective on what it takes to become a doctor. This program is open to students between the ages of 16-18. + Penn State Summer Programs: Go to Penn State anywhere between 2.5 - 6.5 weeks for a full academic experience. Take classes, experience life on a “big ten” campus, and engage in an opportunity for personal growth. There are many courses to choose from, including art, astrophysics, theater, and government! Students can also participate in a community service camp where they combine academics and service. You can also have the opportunity to participate in either an internship or a rigorous SAT/ACT prep class. See here for more information. + University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy: Open to 10th and 11th grade high school students aged 15 with strong academic achievement in sciences, a record of leadership and service activities and an interest or potential in healthcare field.  The University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy introduces students to the world of health care, including issues of primary care, prevention, public health, career exploration, human growth and development, and areas of practice. + Regis College Summer School: A program for high school juniors and seniors where students can earn up to six college credits. Live on campus for two weeks and take classes in two of the hottest fields: health & sciences or communications. Participate in educational and fun field trips to Fenway Park and more. + St. Francis University STEM Academies: A week-long programs designed to provide an opportunity for talented high school students between their sophomore/junior and junior/senior years to experience science, engineering, and computer science in action. Students will have the opportunity to earn college credit while working in teams to complete a real world project and present their results. Programs are available in the following areas: Environmental Engineering, Gaming, Chemistry, Solar Power, and Exercise Physiology. Check here to remain updated on information. + Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP): A six-week educational experience for high school juniors that offers challenges and rewards rarely encountered in secondary school or even college. Each program is designed to bring together young people from around the world who share a passion for learning. Telluride students, or TASPers, attend a seminar led by college and university scholars and participate in many other educational and social activities outside the classroom. + Terp Young Scholars 2018: hosted by University of Maryland, Terp Young Scholars is a “great summer option for high schoolers who are looking for a challenging academic experience.” During Terp, students will: learn from UMD’s distinguished faculty, earn three university credits, explore new academic fields, and live and work with talented peers. Programs offered: Academy for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Anthropology (Forensic Anthropology), Architecture, Biological Sciences, Communication, Computer Science, Creative Writing, Economics, Engineering, Government and Politics, Journalism, Kinesiology, Philosophy, and Psychology. + Vermont Summer Academy via Green Mountain College: Program open to students in grades 7-11 and held in Poultney, VT. This program is designed to be a hands-on learning program. Participate in two week sessions and immerse yourself in the subject of your choice (ex: Culinary Arts, Psychology, Studio Arts, Forensic Science, Veterinary science, responsible consumerism). + Waynesburg University CSI Camp: A one week experience that includes study with professionals from various fields including state and federal agencies and experts in forensic science. +PACAC Camp College: Camp College is an intensive three day/two night workshop designed for 60 rising high school seniors and juniors. Paired with mentors, participants will learn about all aspects of the college search and application process, experience life in the residence halls, learn about financial aid, standardized test exams and have a lot of fun! At the end of Camp College, we expect that the students will be equipped with the tools to navigate the college application process. +Skidmore's Pre-College Program: By enrolling in the Pre-College Program high school students get a head start on college life by living and learning with other exceptional students from across the country and around the world. Skidmore is well known not only as a highly selective liberal arts college but also as one with a studio art program that rivals those of the best fine arts colleges. +Southcentral PA Area Health Education Center Health Careers Awareness Camp:  Have you been thinking about a career in health care?  Would you like to know more about the skills needed and the day-to-day activities required for the career you’re interested in?  Would you like to job shadow a medical professional of your choice? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you should attend the 16th Annual Health Careers Awareness Camp, sponsored by Southcentral Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center (AHEC) and Mount Aloysius College, and held on the campus of Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA. You will be given the opportunity to learn the aspects of various health careers and get hands-on training while working with medical professionals. +MedCamp: MedCamp is a popular long running camp, open to students interested in learning more about healthcare and medical careers. The program gives incoming ninth- and tenth-grade students the opportunity to visit high profile facilities such as Hershey Medical Center, Summit Health, Wilson College Vet Tech Program, and Shenandoah University. +STEM Camp: STEM Camp at Penn State Mont Alto provides incoming 9th and 10th grade students with hands on practical experience in the fields of engineering, chemistry, DNA profiling, physics, microbiology, and much more. The Penn State Mont Alto STEM Camp promises to be a week of exploration, discovery and fun!  The Penn State Extension 4H Robotics Club will host a high-engagement challenge utilizing the latest EV3 Lego Mindstorms.  Camp also includes field trips to Penn State Harrisburg’s Central Pennsylvania Research and Teaching Laboratory for Biofuels and Manitowoc in Shady Grove, Pa. +NYU High School Academy: Courses deliver rich content and hands-on experience that totally immerses you in the professional environment. Classroom learning is enhanced through guest lectures and field trips. Four summer sessions are available from which to choose. + Chatham Sustainability Leadership Academy:  Open to rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders, as well as students leaving 12th grade, Chatham's Sustainability Leadership Academy provides the chance to:

  • Make like-minded friends from across the country

  • Develop the leadership skills needed to be a change agent

+HCC Advanced Manufacturing Summer Institute: The 2018 Summer Institute provides free college courses that will give students a foundation in Manufacturing Technology. This program will offer students an opportunity to earn three college credits during the eight week summer institute.  Classes include INT 101-Introduction to Industrial Technology and ELE 140-Introduction to Robotics. + Health Professions Institute at Juniata College:  The Health Professions Institute provides opportunities for high school students to explore different areas of health care as a career discipline. Students will engage in lectures and labs with the College’s faculty. Additionally, participants will have many opportunities to converse with health care professionals including physicians, nurses, health care administrators, and research scientists. The Institute will focus on career exploration, college immersion, and a variety of learning activities. By conducting lab work, traveling to local health care facilities, and working in small groups, students will prepare a professional poster presentation for the final day of the Institute.
